Where Creativity Takes Center Stage

On March 16, 1991, those assembled in the premises of YMCA, Fort Kochi for the purpose of forming a cultural organization has at the end of the day decided to form a society for the development of art and culture in the Western part of Kochi under the Charitable Societies Act and named it as the Cochin Fine Arts Society (CFAS) under the leadership of Late C. Cherian and he was the founder president and there was no alternative to his abilities and leadership. It posses distinctiveness as being the only cultural organization founded by him in Kochi. The society acquired predominant position in the promotion of fine arts and it was made possible only because of his great vision. He continued to be the President until his demise in the year 1999.
The society conduct variety entertainment programs particularly for the members and for the public in general. Functions of the Society were appreciated and gradually CFAS has grown and earned good reputation as a cultural institution. CFAS present awards to those great talents in music, dance acting etc and named it as C.Cherian Memorial Awards.
CFAS has completed 25 years of its devoted and glorious service for the promotion of fine arts. It gives training to the young talents in music, dance and other forms of fine arts especially the poor and deprived class of people and there is no wonder in achieving this milestone. It has already gained the great support from all the art loving people and also getting grant from Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi and Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
